Exhausted and emotional, my family and I headed to Marco’s MediaCity UK to celebrate my graduation from Salford University. It had been a long day of photographs, speeches and stress over falling on stage. Now, to finish the day off, what I needed was comfort food. Thankfully, I’d made a reservation at Marco’s New York Italian so we didn’t have to wait very long.
Although Marco’s New York Italian is owned by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, the restaurant is perfect for those occasions when you want a nice meal with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s located right in the heart of Salford Quays, nestled between the BBC and ITV studios, and attached to the Holiday Inn. Oh, and there happens to be a huge multi-story car park right next to it. Talk about convenience.
Now, I’m not going to lie, Marco’s wasn’t the first place I thought of when I was looking for somewhere to eat after my graduation. I did quite fancy going to the Alchemist for a celebratory cocktail, but their Christmas menu didn’t look that amazing, especially looking at Marco’s. Burgers? Check. Pasta? Check. Personally, I don’t think you can get a better restaurant theme than a New York Italian. There is literally something for everyone, so with that we decided to take a chance and try somewhere new.
After arriving at the Mezzanine floor of the Holiday Inn, and being shown to our super comfy leather booth, we decided to order from the 3 Course Festive Dinner Menu because tis the season and all that. And, I was then stuck for choice. Like, seriously, it took me absolutely ages to decide what to have. Eventually my hunger made the decision for me and I chose the Calamari with Chilli and Spring Onion, Lemon Mayonnaise Dip for Starter, The Great American Burger with Cheese, Crisp Bacon, spicy Ketchup and French Fries for Main, and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce for Dessert.
And this is what they looked like:
I don’t know whether it was because we were all so hungry from missing lunch, but we all agreed that the meal was one of the best we’d had in a long time. The Calamari was cooked to perfection and the Sticky Toffee Pudding was like a warm hug in a dish. What I adored was how comforting and wholesome everything was, whilst still having the most amazing flavours and freshest ingredients. With all three courses for £25 per person, it didn’t break the bank either!
Marco’s does festive lunches and dinners right the way through December, and you can even celebrate Christmas Day there too!
I’m so glad we tried somewhere new and are already planning on going back to Marco’s MediaCity UK soon! Where’s your favourite place to go for celebration meals? Let me know in the comments below!
