For a beauty blogger I don't half neglect things. Like, seriously, my hair is 3 products max, body moisturiser is not my friend, and my nails, well let's just say if you see them with a smudge/chip-free manicure, you're honoured. There's kind of a reason why I leave my nails bare sometimes though. I play hockey so it's hard to get the to stay chip free, and well I'm just lazy. Fancying a bit of a change and wanting to step up my nail game, I've decided to start with the basics and get them in tip top condition ready for summer. So how am I doing that? Well, these two products are helping.
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
I originally picked this up from USA on my travels but after a little googling you can find it in Superdrug. Essentially, this gel helps breakdown excess cuticles, moisturising them in the process. 20 seconds after applying it to any excess cuticle, I simply push back with a cuticle pusher, and wash any excess product off with warm soapy water. This has been working great for getting my cuticles in tip top shape and the product hasn't irritated the surrounding skin. It's also worth noting that you can use this product on calluses too, although I've not tried it.
Nails Inc Overnight Detox Mask
Another gel-based product, I'm surprised I've not used this sooner with my face mask obsession. Part of Nail Inc's treatment range, the Overnight Detox Mask uses Green Tea, Acai and Spirulina to repair and regenerate damaged nails. To use, simply apply a drop of the mask onto a clean, dry nail bed and massage it into the rest of your nail in order to activate and stimulate the ingredients. Just wash your nails in the morning and you're good to go. Nails Inc recommend using it every night for 2 weeks for an intensive treatment, or just once or twice a week the maintain healthy nails. I must admit I was a bit sceptical about this product but I've been pleasantly surprised. Super-easy to use, there is no mess and my nails looked and felt healthier after just once use. Using weekly, I can really see this being my secret weapon for long, strong nails.
After using these products for only a couple of weeks, my nails have gone from being neglected to nourished. I'm so excited to have strong, long nails for summer so I can paint them all the colours of the rainbow.
