A/W 14: Pretty

It’s that time of year again. New session trends and lots of new looks to try out over the coming months. A/W is definitely my favorite time of the year. There is nothing better than cuddling up in an oversized knit with a mug of hot chocolate and watching a film with friends. But who says you can’t look good whilst doing it?! For the next month I’m going to break down some of the key trends from the catwalk and show you what should be hitting the high street soon.

As soon as you see Kendall Jenner stepping out in a fluffy mohair knit, you know it’s going to be a trend that sticks. Personally I can’t wait to indulge my girliness and find the perfect mohair cardigans. Perfect for work and weekends, I think I might invest in a few good quality pieces that will stand the test of time. On the other end of the scale is pajama pants. I love the concept of these, but I’m very unsure about trying them out. Unless you live in a country that usually has some sort of sun in winter, I think these would be pretty hard to pull off, and in the English winter, frankly freezing! A cami or blouse that you can layer up is much more appealing to me, whilst still giving a nod to the sleepwear trend.

I am so happy that my vast collection of midi dresses and skirts will not be wasted. The 50’s are still alive in fashion with full midi skirts looking to stay for the near future. Possible the most flattering cut possible, team with sequins and crop tops for nights out and tops and jumpers for the day. Appropriate for office and cocktails, this is one timeless trend I will wear all year round. Lastly, Chanel may have some high street competition this season, and not just in the bag department. Quilted textures are to appear on everything from skorts to skirts, coats to tops. Whilst I’m a fan of a classic Barbour jacket, I didn’t expect to like this trend as much as I do. Even Mulberry have got in on the act with the new Cara bag’s! Fingers crossed I can find a high street version of that beautiful  Chloe coat. Choose one piece and keep your outfit simple to avoid looking like your Nan’s throw.

Any trend your looking forward to or avoiding like the plague?
