Sadly I can’t take credit for this make-up. If I could, I would look far more glamours every day. On Friday I went to my local Illamasqua counter at the Trafford Centre in Manchester to get my make-up done for the Summer Ball at my University. The ball was has A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Masquerade theme, but I wanted something slightly different to what I usually go for. Usually I stick to neutrals, but for this event I wanted quite a dramatic smokey eye with a red lip, almost like a grunge vintage look. As I had a fringe, I wore a black net half-veil with lace headband trim instead, so I wanted my eyes to really standout and avoid getting lost. My poor MUA Mitchel had his work cut out for him. On the Wednesday (one day after finishing my exams) I was stuck in bed in agony with two perforated ear drums and a severe sinus infection. However, nothing was going to prevent me attending my last ball as a student and so I sat back and let him perform his magic. I must admit, when I have my make-up done, I zone out but I got very curious when I heard some girls passing saying my eyes looked amazing. Somehow Mitchel managed to put some life back into my face and give me the dramatic look I wanted. I even had a bit of an ombre red lip going on! What I love about having my make-up done at counters before nights out apart from one less thing to worry about, is that you get to see how products you might not usually try work with your skin and features. Whilst you might stick to your comfort zone, someone else might just give you that little push, and now I am in love with more edgy makeup.
I was absolutely shocking at noticing product names but did pick up a few used. I had the tiniest amount of the Hydraveil Primer applied before Skin Base Foundation in 03 and Gleam Highlighter in Aurora. On my eyes, the Powder Eye Shadow in Obsidian and Machine was used along with Eye Liner Cake in Mislead. My main lip colour in the centre is the Intense Lipgloss in Temper. I had no mascara on which was abnormal for me.
Having my make-up done on the counter cost £30, however this was completely redeemable against purchases on the day at the counter. I picked up the lip gloss so I could make touch ups, and the Skin Base as it’s rare I find a foundation which suits my fair skin as well as this does!
