Last week I talked about the main beauty trends and now its time to talk about the fashion. To make life easy I’ve split into two the same way I did the beauty; grunge and girly. As the title suggests, this week I’m talking about grunge trends. If you see anything you like, click on the small picture under the main picture and it will link you to the site.
The key to wearing an androgynous look is to add feminine detailing to over-sized smart pieces and sharp tailoring. Teaming a blazer and these River Island shoes with a pretty dress will provide a subtle nod to the trend without going full on. If your keen for more dedication, a trouser suit in an icy pastel colour teemed with some delicate heels will help balance the masculine pieces. To incorporate the utility look into your wardrobe, look for anything with multiple zips, pockets. I love this leather skirt from ASOS and think it would great with some cut-out ankle boots and a smart white shirt tucked in.
Last year people went mad over a red tartan scarf from H&M, and now the high street is littered with versions. Whether you want to use it as a pop of colour to break up the monochrome trend, or are dedicated enough to wear a full tartan dress, add sleek accessories such as heeled boots and structured bags (but not a satchel) to avoid looking like a small school child. The evil eye print is also said to be massive these coming months, and is already filtering into stores, with Topshop leading the way. I really like this smock dress from ASOS and think it is so easy to wear, I may have to invest, although it is selling fast.
