Recently I’ve become a little obsessed with makeup brushes. As I’ve learned more about makeup I’ve moved away from my fingers and those useless free applicators, and collected an extensive makeup brush collection. I’ve got a real mix of budget and luxury options, some e.l.f., a few Real Techniques and even a couple of MAC. However, my newest addition is different to anything I have ever seen before. Introducing the Illamasqua Blush Up Brush.
Illamasqua Blush Up Brush
For those of you not familiar with Illamasqua, the makeup brand is renowned for their bold makeup and innovative designs. They firmly believe in the acceptance of everyone and the use of makeup as self-expression.
Challenging the usual makeup conventions, Illamasqua now wants to change the way we apply blush with the release of their new Blush Up Brush. Featuring an innovative, ellipse-shaped head, the brush is designed to tuck directly under your cheekbone and applying your blush flawlessly.
How to use the Illamasqua Blush Up Brush
Like most new innovations, the Illamsqua Blush Up Brush is designed to be used a bit differently than your regular blush brush. Helpfully, the amazing team at Illamasqua have broken the process down into three easy steps:
- Target – Suck in your cheeks as you would normally do to apply blush, but this time, place the Blush Up Brush directly under the centre of your cheekbone.
- Sweep – Softly sweep the brush upwards in a gentle motion to define your natural cheekbone. Less pressure should be applied as you move the brush towards your hairline, creating a colour graduation effortlessly.
- Build – Gradually build up the application until the blush is at your desired level of intensity.
Illamasqua Blush Up Brush Review
I will be the first to admit that I don’t pick up new makeup techniques as quick as some people. Those of you who read my review of the e.l.f. Shadow & Mascara Shield will know that it takes me a couple of times before things click.
However, now that I’ve finally got the hang of it, I’m really enjoying playing around with this new technique. I really like the effect of the colour graduation and think it creates such a flawless, professional look. Believe it or not, I actually found it easy enough to master, but if you struggle, why not pop to an Illamsqua makeup counter and ask for a demonstration so you can learn from the pros?
Now onto the price. At just under £30, the Illamasqua Blush Up Brush isn’t the cheapest, but it is well worth it in my opinion. The brush itself is super soft with no shedding and is generally of a quality you would expect of a luxury beauty brand. It’s really the innovation that you pay for, and it is amazing. My blush is applied perfectly everytime and it’s so quick to create a flawless look. For that, I would recommend everyone invest.
